Kazuyoshi Miyoshi
Seigensya Art Publishing Inc.
Japanese photographer Kazuyoshi Miyoshi who visited Okinawa alone at the age of 14, was fascinated by Sakishima island. When he was 17 years old, he held a photograph exhibition in Ginza, which became the youngest solo exhibition ever recorded. This exhibition was the beginning of his career as a photographer. This photo book is said to be the beginning of Kazuyoshi Miyoshi’s new life of Rakuen (paradise), and I feel that his works focusing on Japanese islands, including Okinawa, can be said to be a consequence. Not only is it beautiful, but you can almost hear the sound of waves and birds singing, and you can also feel the greatness of nature and the life of animals and plants.
You will find photographer Miyoshi’s comments on date, place, and scene where the photos were taken at the end of book, after reading this comments, you will be immersed in his worldview even more.
Kazuma Saeki
Mitsumura Suiko Shoin Co., Ltd
Fireworks are a summer tradition in Japan. This book is a collection of slected photographs of fireworks taken by Kazuma Saeki, a photographer who is so fascinated by the beauty of fireworks that he calls himself a Hanabist. (Hanabi is firework in Japanese)
His photographs that capture a moment filled with the charm of fireworks by using a special technique are very beautiful, and you can almost hear the sound of the fireworks. This book also includes many photographs of local architecture and scenery in Japan along with the fireworks, so you feel like you are traveling to fireworks events all over the country just with this book.
Unfortunately, we have not had many opportunities to see fireworks in the past couple of years due to the Covid-19, but I promise you can enjoy beautiful fireworks in various cities through this book in this summer.
