This book gives you history and culture of the ALL BLACKS (New Zealand national rugby team), a very special team for rugby fans. Also it teaches us the pride and pressure of wearing the ALL BLACKS uniform, “THE JERSEY”, and the identity of the New Zealanders. The secret to the ALL BLACKS’ success is revealed by this book and our Library Lounge is also stocked with other rugby-related books.
By the way, do you know that Shiba Park Hotel has a long-standing connection with rugby?
In 1987, All BLACKS had just won the Rugby World Cup, and came to Japan to stay at Shiba Park Hotel. The current front desk used to be an authentic bar called “Bar The Fifteen’s”, a favorite haunt of rugby fans.
The 10th Rugby World Cup will be held in September 2023.We are cheering for ALL BLACKS and Japan national rugby team.

This picture book has been read all over the world since it was published in the United State in 1964. The book “The Giving Tree” I have chosen as my recommendation is translated by Haruki Murakami in 2010.
By the time I finished reading this picture book, I was filled with so many different emotions that I could not have imagined from the refreshing yellow-green book cover with cute boy drawn.
There was a happy, hurt side, and bittersweet part of me that I sympathized with the unconditional love that the tree gives to the boy and the emotions that changing during years of growing up, recalling the faces of my family and the stuffed animals which I cherished when I was a child. I think the sentences of the picture book are an easy-to-read, but the content of the story is very profound. I think that your feelings will change a lot depending on your position and perspective, but I want you to feel something from this picture book. I am so glad to have come across this picture book. I would like to recommend this picture book for adults as well.
