This is the recommended book for guests who enjoy our afternoon tea at the restaurant. You will find the value of Edo Kiriko even more by learning about the bond between parent and child who have inherited the history, artistry, and techniques of Edo Kiriko. Kabu Kiriko, created by the Shimizu Glass factory and introduced in the book, is very unique in that it was designed after Kumadori makeup of Kabuki. You can see them on display on the 2nd floor of our hotel.
In our current afternoon tea menu, we offer “Lemon jelly in Edo Kiriko style,” a sweet inspired by Edo Kiriko. I hope you will enjoy your afternoon tea as well.
Author: Katsuo (Katsusuke Nishina)
Publisher: KADOKAWA
Katsuo is a photographer who was born in Kurashiki city, Okayama prefecture in 1996. He started traveling to all of 1,741 cities, towns and villages in Japan when he was a university student, and his journey continued until January in 2020, ending in Yakushima, Kagoshima prefecture. A partner of his journey was blue motorcycle which he fell in love at first sight in his town. At the time, he was curious to know how many cities, towns and villages there were in Japan and was excited to see a landscape he has not yet seen. His advance preparation for the journey consisted of earning college credits as quickly as possible to give himself more time, saving money, and planning a strategy for the journey.
Not only photos in this book, but also his episodes are fascinating. I sympathize his word “I noticed that ordinary scenery and daily life are precious days in Japan”, and I pray those days will continue in many places in the future.
Author: Machiko Kyo
Publisher: rn press
This is a book of illustrated diaries written by Machiko Kyo for a year from April 2020. Illustrations depicting her life as changed by the COVID-19 are narrative and remind me of the anxiety and confusion I felt back then. The title and comments are also written in English, giving a more detailed picture of the situation at the time.
Why not read this book to remind you of the happiness of being able to go out with your friends and family.
The selection lets you feel the spirit and history of hospitality developed uniquely at Shiba Park Hotel. “Shiba” was passed down from Edo to Tokyo, then to the modern Tokyo. Important things have been passed down through generations.
We prepared bookshelves that do not fade even after all the years.
