Monet of Impressionism and Matisse of Fauvisme. The book is valuable in that it
contains in one volume catalogs of the leading modern painters. This book was published as an official catalog for an exhibition “Monet and Matisse: Visions of the Ideal” held at Pola Museum of Art in 2020. It includes an introduction of exhibited works at the time as well as a consideration by experts. What I found interesting was ground plans for Monet’s garden and the land where Matisse stayed for his creative activities. These will make you think more deeply about painters. Following the Matisse exhibition, which ran until August 2023, the Monet exhibition will be held in Tokyo in October.

The artist Alphonse Mucha who participated actively in Europe from the late 19th to the early 20th century. He made a lot of posters and decorated panels. It has passed over 80 years since he died, however, his works are still popular in all over the world. This book was sold as a limited-edition product at the exhibition “Timeless Mucha: Mucha to Manga – The Magic of Line” in 2019. I feel fantasy-like world about his works, flowers and plants of his works are very beautiful. This book is included many another graphics which are created by Japanese Manga artists and foreign artists who were received his influence. I guess you will find common points between Mucha’s and theirs.
