This guidebook shows sushi toppings and etiquette in both Japanese and English to help foreigners feel comfortable dining at a sushi restaurant. It also covers the history of sushi and useful conversations at the restaurant, which I found very interesting even as a Japanese. The photos of sushi are really beautiful and appetizing. Japan has an abundance of fish and shellfish. With this guidebook, you can learn about the cooking process to get the most out of the ingredients, as different fish are in season at different times of the year. “Sushi Masa” is a well-established restaurant that has been in business for 162 years in Kudanshita, Tokyo. The restaurant is located 20-minute drive from the hotel. Your sushi chef, the taisho, will be pleasantly surprised if you tell “omakase,” one of the ways to order sushi described in “Conversations at the Sushi Restaurant.”

This English and Japanese bilingual book introduces the basic knowledge about Japanese gardens with illustrations. Many Japanese gardens in Kyoto are introduced in the chapter 2, and Japanese gardens in all part of Japan are introduced in the chapter 3 with history and persons who were active at the time. The three Japanese gardens located in Tokyo are easily accessible from Shiba Park Hotel. What do you think about visiting the nearest Japanese garden “Hama-rikyu”? You may be able to visit there on your foot. It will be a good stroll for you. For your information, the atrium on the 25th floor at our sister hotel, Park Hotel Tokyo is designed to resemble a Japanese garden “Karesansui”(dry landscape garden.) You should go and check it out.
