This book explains “how people should live” by comparing the teachings of The Analects, a book bequeathed by the Chinese philosopher Confucius and his disciples, to daily life and business. While there are many books on the Analects and the Abacus compiled from the lecture transcripts of Eiichi Shibusawa, this modern translation by Atsushi Moriya is highly easy to read. Moreover, it is interesting to conclude the successes and failures of Ieyasu Tokugawa and Hideyoshi Toyotomi based on whether or not they made sincere efforts. Some of our outlook on life may change drastically once we understand the truth of things as told by Eiichi Shibusawa. This book is filled with necessary guidelines to break through the chaos of today’s world and survive the future. Why not learn more from Eiichi Shibusawa, who has been selected to become the new face of the Japanese 10,000 yen bill?

I suppose that these words “vegetarian” and “vegan” were slowly permeated in Japan. Vegetarians can be divided into about 10 types including vegans. This book introduces vegan-friendly restaurants in Tokyo, and I did not expect that there are so many vegan options. I am not familiar with the restaurants listed in this book because I regularly eat meat and seafood. However, the vibrant photos of dishes and desserts made me realize there are more places I’d like to try than I had imagined, giving me the impression that this book offers new discoveries.
I would like to recommend this book not only to our guests but also my colleagues.
